Harumi Taniguchi (谷口 はるみ Taniguchi Harumi?) is the tritagonist in the manga Citrus. She is the younger sister of Mitsuko Taniguchi and the best friend of Yuzu Aihara.

Appearance[]

Harumi is an attractive, tall young girl with chest-length plum hair (dark auburn in the anime) that is styled in low twin pigtails with perfectly straight bangs that cover her forehead while she has somewhat longer bangs on the sides of her head and ears (but she sometimes wears her hair tied in a ponytail on the bottom of her head or even loose), hazel eyes and she has a voluptuous figure where she hides stuff that are banned by the school regulations (like makeup and her cellphone). [1]

Like Yuzu, Harumi is a fashionable girl who keeps up with the latest trends, some of which are quite revealing on her (such as displaying her bust, belly etc.) whenever she is out of school.

Personality[]

Harumi is a kind, humorous, easy-going, mature and responsible girl who has a similar mentality to Yuzu and enjoys doing things which are prohibited by her school's regulations. She better describes herself as a "gyaru in disguise" [2]She possesses a strong fashion sense and likes to go shopping. While cheerful on the outside and towards others, she has a tendency to hide her real feelings towards her family and friends, being very defensive, empathetic and thoughtful of others' feelings as she usually avoids trouble. According to Matsuri, that is because Harumi is afraid of being hurt.[3]

Etymology[]

  • The name Harumi has no actual meaning as it's written in Hiragana (はるみ). However, when written in kanji (晴美 or 春美), it could possibly mean:

    • 春美 - "spring" (春) (haru) and "beautiful" (美) (mi).
  • Harumi's surname Taniguchi means "valley" (谷) (tani) and "mouth, entrance" (口) (kuchi/guchi), which literally means "mouth of a valley" altogether.
